"Ask BAM: 6 of our Favourite A.I. Tools Right Now"

A.I. Tools

The marketing world is full of questions. We like to ask our fellow BAMmers for answers.

Yes, it’s the two letters on everyone’s upscaled lips...

And whether or not you believe A.I. is the paradigm-shifting, industry-microwaving innovation it’s currently being touted as, there’s no denying the crater-sized impact it’s having on marketers.

Luckily for us, we’ve got a very talented group of early adopters and AI creators here at BAM, including artists whose work has been featured in international exhibitions, and experts who are now leading university lectures on the technology’s ins and outs.

So, we asked BAM: What’s your favourite AI tool right now, and why?

“I have tried all the tools in different areas, and I think I'll stick with Stable Diffusion. Being able to finetune custom models is an incredible advantage, plus having absolute control over the results just by talking about images.”
- Aaron Amortegui, Senior Motion Designer & AI Expert

“It's Ideogram for me. It feels approachable where others are daunting. Love the simplicity of the prompts and the ability to remix the creation of others on the channel.”
- Spencer Emmerson, Social Media Director

“Not exactly an indie pick — but as a copywriter, ChatGPT has changed the way I brainstorm. And brainstorm is the correct word here. I can count on one hand the number of times it’s generated a winning headline outright…but it’s a brilliant cure to the blank page syndrome that plagues so many writers. I’ve also tinkered with made-for-marketing tools like Jasper, which has intriguing long form + SEO capabilities...but for its ease-of-use, ChatGPT is my go-to. ”
- Brook Johnston, Associate Creative Director

ChatGPT because it helps me find alternative ways to say what is on the table (creative, clever, and witty prompts help). CON: it’s not much help when working on clients in the sexual health space, since it blocks even slightly provocative prompts.”
- Matty Alburger, Copywriter

Midjourney because you are able to create more editorial and high-end imagery once you have a grasp of how to properly steer the outputs.”
- Carly Fridhandler, Art Director

“For image generation, there are a lot of specialized tools out there but I am happy using plain old vanilla Stable Diffusion in combination with some of the features recently implemented in Photoshop. Generative fill and object selection are really great to have right in the program.

That said, in my opinion, the AI revolution leaves us with almost too many options! No matter the tool, there are endless ways to use them creatively, whether they are directly driving your idea or simply being used as a way to generate an asset as part of a bigger whole.

Even some rather mundane enhancements, like the ability to quickly and precisely select objects and figures in images without any need for close cutting has really revolutionized my workflow for the better. My meme-making game has also never been so quick and efficient!”
- Erik Intrevado, Senior Art Director
